歴史ある京町家を、伝統と現代が融け合う洗練された宿へと再生したプロジェクト。

深い陰影が創り出すモノトーンの世界に、美しい静寂が澄みわたる空間を目指しました。

 

構造を支えてきた柱や梁、歳月を刻んだ界壁は覆い隠すことなくそのまま空間の主役へ。日本家屋ならではの光と闇のグラデーションが、静謐な美意識を宿し、その静けさのなかに織物や漆などの京都の伝統工芸を配し、職人の手仕事によるささやかな輝きを添えています。

 

吹き抜けに浮かぶメッシュのオブジェ、かつての台所「走り元」の火袋、そしてガラススクリーンで仕切られた軽やかなリビング。

町家の趣を残しながらも開放的な空間設計により、歴史と現代が自然に溶け合う。

 

古きものを敬い、新たな美意識を重ねる。

A project that revitalized a historic Kyo-machiya into a refined sanctuary where tradition melts into modernity. The vision was a space of pristine silence, cast in a monochrome world of deep shadows.

The original pillars, beams, and weathered walls remain exposed as the protagonists of the space. The contrast of light and darkness, inherent to Japanese homes, evokes a quiet aesthetic. Amidst this silence, the delicate touch of Kyoto’s traditional crafts—textiles and lacquerware—whispers with the subtle brilliance of artisanal handiwork.

A mesh object floating in the vaulted ceiling, the smoke-stained hibukuro of the old kitchen, and a luminous living area framed by a glass screen. The open layout honors the townhouse's heritage while offering an airy freedom where past and present seamlessly dissolve.
